    Fortinet Security Fabric

    Fortinet Security Fabric Overview

    What's included

    Built into one network

    Fortinet SD-WAN

Fortinet SD-WAN replaces expensive MPLS links with flexible, application-aware routing that adjusts automatically to real-time network conditions. Traffic is distributed across multiple connections, including fibre, broadband, and 4G, based on which application is running and how each link is performing at that moment. The firewall is built into the same platform, which means you are not adding a separate security product alongside the routing. For businesses with three or more sites or significant cloud application use, Fortinet SD-WAN delivers better performance at lower cost than a comparable MPLS arrangement.

    Fortinet SASE

Fortinet SASE delivers consistent security policy to every user regardless of where they connect from. Traffic is inspected and secured at the cloud edge before it reaches its destination, which means a remote worker in Brisbane gets the same protection as a staff member sitting inside the Melbourne office network. Zero trust access principles are applied at the connection level so users only reach what they are authorised for. For businesses with hybrid or remote workforces and cloud-heavy application environments, SASE removes the security gaps and performance overhead that come with backhauling traffic through a central office.

    Fortinet NAC

FortiNAC gives you a complete, real-time inventory of every device connecting to your network and enforces access policy at the device level automatically. New devices are discovered without manual scanning, assessed against your defined compliance policy, and either allowed, restricted, or quarantined before they can access sensitive areas of the network. IoT devices, guest Wi-Fi users, and non-compliant endpoints are segmented from production systems without any manual configuration change required. For compliance-heavy industries, NAC provides the access logging and automated enforcement that audits require.

    Fortinet Cloud Firewall

FortiGate provides enterprise-grade firewall protection for cloud-hosted and on-premise traffic, managed from a single unified interface. The same policies governing your on-premise network apply to your cloud environment in Azure, AWS, or any other platform, with deep packet inspection and application-level control applied consistently across both. Managing cloud and on-premise policy from one console removes the configuration drift that occurs when environments are managed separately.

    Fortinet EDR and MDR

FortiEDR monitors laptops, servers, and workstations in real time using behavioural analysis to detect threats that signature-based tools would miss. When a suspicious process runs on an endpoint, FortiEDR responds automatically to contain the threat before it moves laterally to other devices. The optional managed detection layer from eComms adds a trained team reviewing your endpoint alerts continuously, investigating incidents, and escalating when immediate action is needed. For businesses that want endpoint protection without the internal resource to monitor and respond to it, this is the practical arrangement.

    Managed Firewall SOC

The eComms Security Operations Centre monitors your Fortinet firewall and network traffic 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our analysts review alerts as they come in, investigate anomalies in the context of your specific environment, and escalate genuine threats with a clear, prioritised response recommendation. Monthly reporting gives your team a summary of activity levels, blocked threats, policy changes, and any incidents that required intervention. For organisations that need enterprise-level security monitoring but cannot build or staff a SOC internally, this is the managed alternative.

    Why Choose eComms for Fortinet

    Certified local team

eComms Fortinet engineers are certified and based in Melbourne. When you log a support request, it is handled by people who hold current Fortinet credentials and have detailed knowledge of your specific configuration, not an offshore helpdesk reviewing your account for the first time when you call.

    Managed service beyond installation

Most Fortinet resellers configure the system, commission it, and hand it back to the client. eComms manages the ongoing environment, including firmware updates, policy adjustments, continuous monitoring, alert triage, and incident response. Your Fortinet deployment is treated as a live managed service, maintained proactively rather than reactively.

    Integrated with your whole network

Because eComms manages internet connectivity, MPLS, and SIP trunking for many clients alongside their Fortinet security, the security layer integrates with the network layer from day one. When a performance issue or security alert surfaces, our team has visibility across both, which means faster diagnosis and resolution.

One point of contact for everything

One account manager, one support number, one monthly invoice covering security and connectivity. There are no separate contracts for each Fortinet product and no separate vendors to coordinate when something needs attention.

    Listen to our happy customers!

Thousands of Businesses Across Australia Trust eComms to Keep Them Connected

“We had Fortinet hardware in place from a previous provider but it had not been patched or monitored properly for over a year. eComms completed a full environment audit in the first week, identified configuration gaps across three sites, and had proper monitoring running before the end of the month.”

Answers to common questions about our managed phone systems, connectivity solutions, carrier network, and ongoing support services.

Is eComms an authorised Fortinet reseller in Australia?

Yes. eComms is an authorised Fortinet reseller in Australia with Fortinet-certified engineers on staff. We can procure, deploy, and support the full Fortinet product range including FortiGate firewalls, FortiNAC, FortiEDR, Fortinet SASE, and SD-WAN appliances. Our managed service capability means we do not just supply the hardware, we design, configure, and run the ongoing environment for clients across Australia. To discuss a new Fortinet deployment or the takeover of an existing environment, contact our Melbourne team: https://www.ecomms.com.au/contact-us/

The Fortinet Security Fabric is the integrated architecture that connects every Fortinet product so they share threat intelligence and can be managed from a single management console. When a FortiGate firewall identifies a threat, FortiEDR on the endpoint is updated immediately. The FortiNAC access control layer can quarantine the affected device automatically. A policy change made in the central console propagates across every Fortinet product in the environment simultaneously. For businesses, the practical benefit is that there are no security blind spots between products and threats detected at one layer do not have to be manually actioned at every other layer.

FortiGate is your network security appliance. It functions as a next-generation firewall and, in SD-WAN deployments, as your WAN routing engine. FortiGate protects traffic flowing into and out of your network and between network segments. FortiEDR protects individual devices including laptops, servers, and workstations. It monitors what each device is doing at the process level and responds to suspicious behaviour before it causes damage or spreads. Together, FortiGate and FortiEDR cover the network perimeter and the device layer, which are the two most common points of entry for security incidents in Australian businesses.

Yes. eComms regularly takes over management of existing Fortinet deployments, whether the previous provider has exited, the business wants a better ongoing service arrangement, or the environment needs updating. The process starts with a security and network audit covering the current configuration, firmware versions, active policies, and any gaps in the setup. From there, eComms transitions to a managed service covering monitoring, patching, moves and changes, and fault response. Configuration issues and outdated firmware are addressed as part of the onboarding. See managed network services: https://www.ecomms.com.au/data/managed-services/

Fortinet has SMB-grade appliances including smaller FortiGate models for offices with fewer than 20 staff. For businesses in that range, however, the total cost and configuration depth of Fortinet may exceed what the environment requires. eComms works with both Fortinet and Ubiquiti UniFi, and recommends based on your size, what you need to protect, and your budget. For smaller networks where simplicity and cost-effectiveness are the priority, Ubiquiti is often the more appropriate solution. eComms manages both platforms. See Ubiquiti SMB networks: https://www.ecomms.com.au/data/smb-network/

A single-site FortiGate deployment for a business of 20 to 50 staff typically takes five to ten business days from sign-off to go-live, covering procurement, configuration, and commissioning. SD-WAN deployments across multiple sites are scoped per project, with timelines driven by the number of sites, the complexity of routing and security policy requirements, and the readiness of each location for cutover. eComms manages the project from initial design through to documentation and handover, including any number porting or carrier changes required. See project management: https://www.ecomms.com.au/services/project-management/
